Crafting Japanese

Wow...i'm new to japanese crafting and only a novice crocheter. Could I possibly make this if I couldn't read the directions? I knit and i'm an art teacher - so I usually can figure stuff out - WHEN IT IS IN ENGLISH! eek! I want to make this so badly I am drooling!
It is so...beautiful! Can you help me?

the crochet patterns in japan are not written in sentences like US patterns, they are diagrams with symbols.
