Several years ago I had a table at the Fremont Holiday Market in Seattle and there was a woman at the table opposite me selling little drawstring coin bags like that that looked like roses and were made from velvet or velveteen, I think. I've kicked myself for not buying or trading for one of them. I've looked around online for a pattern for them but came up empty handed. I bet you could just alter those "corners a bit" to make it into a rose or other type of flower.
