Blythe + Hello Kitty
I made Blythe a Hello Kitty t-shirt for the doll clothes-along. The pattern is XOXO, Blythe's boatneck tee with the arms cut off and a Hello Kitty sticker on the front. Such a great simple pattern. The skirt is from the megaload of doll clothes my sister found for me, probably Barbie.
Did I mention that I have a Hello Kitty t-shhirt that looks almost the same? :)

Swiss craft loot
I'm back from my trip, and still sifting through 2 weeks of missed blog posts (and catching up in lab), so no crafting just now. Good lord you people are prolific. I even missed the Wee Wonderfuls pattern booklet. Sheesh. Thank goodness she's doing a reprint.
Anyway, Switzerland was fun. I was able to fit in visits to a few craft stores, and restocked my dwindling and precious stock of thick felt. I saw it in 3 places, including a department store! Lucky Europeans. I also got these neat embroidery hoops. With the yellow ones Lisa gave me, ones that I've inherited from various relatives, and normal ones I've bought, I think it's officially a collection now. If you have any interesting hoops, I'd be up for a trade of some sort.

travel folder
We are leaving for Switzerland tomorrow! Mark's singing for our supper, but it's all vacation for me. Usually it's the other way around, so I'm happy I get to relax. I always hate digging around in my bag for the 20 different pieces of paper and identification needed at every checkpoint, so I made this handy travel folder. It's made of this nifty linen-y fabric, wool felt, a piece of plastic from a page protector, binding to edge the pockets and hold the layers together, and a button for a closure. You can tell my binding skills are, uh, still improving.
It holds my boarding pass or train pass (slash pocket), printouts of hotel info etc. (pocket behind the slash pocket), my passport (right bottom), driver's license+other cards (right top), and a "return to" info card on the off chance that I lose it (little clear pocket). It's interfaced, but still a little bit floppier than I would've liked. I'm hoping it'll bulk up once it's full.
Can I tell you how exciting it was to see this fabric used in the Denyse Schmidt book? Ever since, I've been waiting for a really good project to use it on.

watch band
My first occasion to use loot from the trimswap. I was so lucky to get paired up with Lisa. She sent me all sorts of great stuff, some of which is shown here, like yellow embroidery hoops and a bunch of great trim. I used a little piece of one of the pretty ribbons to make a new band for my watch. For some reason, I cannot part with this watch. I have had it for eleven years. The ribbon band fastens with a pearl snap.

fabric cabinet
Someone at lab was giving away these 2 sets of cubbies, usually used for class handouts and homework. They immediately screamed "fabric storage" to me. We picked up the screw-on legs at Home Depot. I eventually will stain them, but I was too impatient to get all my fabric out of the shoe-organizer and into the new cabinet. The shoe-organizer is now my yarn stash (previous yarn storage was a cardboard box that the cat liked to sleep in).

pan handle mitt
I got a nice cast iron frying pan for a dollar at a garage sale a few weeks ago. Today while cooking lunch, my husband wished that he had a hot mitt for the pan handle. I immediately thought of this scrap of quilted fabric left over from the coffee press cozy. I knew there was a reason I didn't throw it away! Two seams later, wish granted.
