dishcloth
I'm wedding hopping/on vacation this week, so lots of airplane crafting. One cross country flight = one crochet dishcloth. I wanted to try out some new crochet stitches in anticipation of making a scarf or something, so I got the Vogue crochet stitch dictionary out of the library. If this pattern is any indication, I wouldn't recommend it. It was overly complicated and poorly written. About 3 rows in I figured out a much easier way to do it. This one was made with peaches and cream cotton yarn. If anybody's interested, I can write up a little pattern.

dotty bag rescue
The bag I got from Little Purl of the Orient for backtack II got ripped. I felt really bad since is was such nice materials and so well constructed, so I decided to try to save it. I was able to salvage two nice rectangular pieces (with interior pockets intact!) and resewed them together into this cool geometric bag. There's tight zigzag stitch around the handle and the top edge, which really adds some nice extra structure. I'm very happy with it. It's like a whole new bag!

in bloom
This crochet clutch is the "in bloom" pattern by india romeo in the Happy Hooker. The wool brooch on it is from sparrow goods. The lining fabric is in the background. I'm pretty happy with it, and it was way easy. I love this pink acrylic yarn my sister got me. It's been in at least 4 projects by now, I think. It actually squeaks when you crochet with it.

clovery
The yellow was looking a little too bright lately, so I redesigned the site. My mac calls the color "honeydew." The clover background pattern is by me, inspired by my favorite notions company and a tshirt I got at Delia's, of all places. I'm so pleased with it, I'm thinking of printing it up as fabric once my Bubble Jet Set order arrives from Joann's (on sale this week!) RSS friends, stop by and take a look!

DSQ quilt
I finally finished my Ice Pops baby quilt from the Denyse Schmidt Quilts book. I started it way back in January, and finished the piecing really quickly. Completely messed up the quilting, though. The book has it quilted in a crosshatch pattern, so I started by trying that out by machine. It was Awful, all lumpy and skewed. I think I'm going to try some potholders next time I feel like quilting since I obviously don't have the hang of my walking foot yet. Anyway, I ripped it all out and decided I didn't like the crosshatch pattern anyway. Instead I hand quilted down the middle of each strip of cream. This took forever, and by the time I finished there was no way I was going to do one stitch of handsewing to put on the binding. So the binding is just sewn on all at once, which looks fine on the front and a bit uneven on the back. Since the baby in question is now 2 months old, that's a compromise I am happy with.

Wee kitty
Long time no see. Lots to do at work lately, including a big conference last week, but I have been doing some crafting here and there. My sewing buddies from lab came over for dinner+crafting this week, so I had some quality time to work on a baby present for a good friend of mine from grad school. The baby is only 3 days old, so I'm patting myself on the back for the quick turn-around. Maybe it'll cancel out the 2+ months I'm late on the baby quilt for another friend.
You'll recognize the pattern from the Wee Wonderfuls put-together book. I might have to finally figure out how to use Flickr so I can post it to the gallery. As everyone else says, it's a very good pattern. I'm quite pleased with the results. (The mouth is easier to see and the shoes are the same size in person, btw.) FYI, she still has some books in her shop.
